Janelle Johnston

Janelle is a Emmy Award winning video producer for the Miami HEAT.

Born and raised in Sunny South Florida, Janelle spent most of her youth captivated by mass media and cultivated a passion for communication at a young age. Eager to pursue journalism, Janelle attended Florida State University where she received a Bachelor of Arts in Media/Communication Studies in 2016. During her tenure at FSU, she worked and interned with Seminole Productions, HerCampus.com, ESPN-U, and WCTV Eyewitness News.

After graduation, Janelle landed her first job at FOX Sports Florida as a production and web assistant. Along with exceeding expectations in her role, she also cultivated her own daily web show, Covering The Bases, and was eventually tasked with hosting The Fox Sports Minute, which aired on FOX Sports Florida. She was also promoted to lead studio editor, where she edits all pre and postgame content for the Miami HEAT, Miami Marlins, and Florida Panthers. During this time, Janelle was also an in-arena host for University of Miami Football and Basketball.

​In 2021, Janelle was approached by the Miami HEAT to join their team to produce and edit their long format show, Inside The Heat. During her time with the HEAT, she has won three Emmy Awards for her work on Inside The Heat. Janelle is currently still with the HEAT, and can be found on the hard wood most nights covering her favorite team.
